Celebrating Carer’s Week and The Communities Mental Health & Wellbeing Fund in East Dunbartonshire

Carers Link East Dunbartonshire - Young Adult Carer Support

Carers Link East Dunbartonshire secured funding through the local Communities Mental Health & Wellbeing Fund funding to support 35 Young Adult Carers between the ages of 18 and 25. This project was funded from March 2025 – March 2026.

Carers Link had contact with 107 young adult carers over the year. Of these 57 were new referrals which far exceeded our expectations. Of the 107, support ranged from ‘light-touch’ contact to regular 1-1 support and 39 have attended at least 1 group.

11 groups ran between June 2025 and March 2026 for our Young Adult Carers. The young adult carers have gone along to local community-based groups such as, Stitch the Gap, Craft Daft on a Raft, Colourplay and Ramekin and Rolling Pin Cookery School

A final achievement is that our 5 young people were able to attend a workshop at Edinburgh Zoo to be given the chance to learn more about careers available to them. They even got to do on-hand training, with our group picking up the most kangaroo poo - 1.3KG! They all had the chances to speak to those who keep Edinburgh Zoo running, from the social media team, all the way to the vets!

If you are a young person supporting an adult and need support, please contact Max on enquiry@carerslink.org.uk or 0800 075 2131.
