This network is for local third sector organisations and the statutory sector to gather and discuss supporting Children, Young People & Families in East Dunbartonshire. The networks take place quarterly and date can be found HERE

Whole Family Wellbeing Fund- Directory of Supports 2025-2026

The Whole Family Wellbeing Fund (WFWF) brings together a wide range of supports designed to help families across East Dunbartonshire thrive.

Our Directories of Supports outline the projects, programmes, and services available to both parents and carers as well as multi-agency practitioners. These include initiatives from third-sector partners, local authority teams, and specialist training opportunities.

From autism-friendly activities and outdoor learning to family support groups, sleep programmes, and wellbeing workshops, each project aims to strengthen families, improve relationships, and promote inclusion and resilience in our communities.

New Resource: Supporting Scotland’s Children – Core Knowledge and Values

The Directorate for Children and Families has launched a new online resource: Supporting Scotland's Children: Core Knowledge and Values replaces the previous Common Core of Skills, Knowledge & Understanding and Values for the "Children's Workforce" in Scotland. This new online resource, sets out the essential knowledge and values that everyone working or volunteering with babies, children, young people and families should share, including children’s rights, wellbeing, safeguarding and partnership working.


Compassionate Distress Response Service (CDRS)

CDRS provides a short-term listening service for young people experiencing acute emotional distress.  Referrals into the service will receive support to develop a plan of action to help alleviate feelings of distress. The service is operated by Glasgow Association for Mental Health (GAMH) on behalf of East Dunbartonshire Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP). The service supports East Dunbartonshire Young People 16 – 25 years of age (26 years if care experienced) to manage their distress and provide onward referral if required.

The Promise

In 2017, the Scottish Government launched an Independent Review of Scotland’s Care System (Children and Young People) to help Scotland deliver the ‘world’s best care system’. The Promise is responsible for driving the work of change demanded by the findings of the Independent Care Review, following their publication in 2020. It works with all kinds of organisations to support shifts in policy, practice and culture so Scotland can #KeepThePromise it made to care experienced infants, children, young people, adults and their families - that every child grows up loved, safe and respected, and able to realise their full potential. GIRFEC

Scotland’s national approach for supporting children, is called Getting it right for every child (GIRFEC). It supports families by making sure children and young people can receive the right help, at the right time, from the right people. The aim is to help them to grow up feeling loved, safe and respected so that they can realise their full potential. GIRFEC helps the different agencies, services and teams who form part of the East Dunbartonshire Children’s Services Partnership work better together. Child Friendly Complaints

On July 16 2024, the United Nation Convention on the Rights of Children (UNCRC) Act 2024 was incorporated into domestic law in Scotland. This Act ensures that children’s rights are central to policy and decision-making, and that their needs are met by public service complaints procedures in Scotland.
